Pierce Turner ist ein in Irland sehr bekannter Folk-Sänger, welcher auch seine Wurzeln durchaus in Rory Gallagher sieht. Zum 10. Todestag hat er - unter Mithilfe von Donal Gallagher - ein Stück zu Ehren von Rory auf seiner neuen CD veröffentlicht: "The Ballad Of Rory Gallagher".

"Turner can still come up with the goods, and "The Boy To Be With" is very good indeed. The single, "Jazz" is a fine song about finding love in middle age, still awkward and fluttering of heart despite the years of experience. The Boy To Be With is also unique in that one of its tracks, "The Ballad Of Rory Gallagher", a heartfelt tribute to the late Irish bluesman whose 10th anniversary is marked this year, features samples of Gallagher's trademark blues licks. According to Pierce, "I was a huge fan of Rory's and I featured the song in a TV tribute to him and that sparked off demands to put it on the album. Then Rory's brother Donal generously allowed me to add appropriate licks from Rory's actual recordings. It's a very emotional track for me, and I hope for Rory's fans too."
"The Ballad Of Rory Gallagher" is part of a three-piece suite of folk songs on "The Boy To Be With", and the album also contains the songs, "Drumsna", "The Bright and Early", "Omaghº and one cover version, Pierce's reworking of the Mann-Weil classic "See That Girl".
