Der Veröffentlichungstermin der dt. Übersetzung des Buches von Gerry McAvoy verschiebt sich wegen eines derzeit in England anhängigen Prozesses weiter nach hinten. Voraussichtlicher Termin ist jetzt Dezember 2006.

Abstimmung scheinbar abgeschlossen, die Rory-Gallagher-Bronze-Statue wird heute in Dublin aufgestellt. "The Edge" von U2 wird bei der Einweihung dabei sein.
Hier die offizielle Mitteilung von gestern Nachmittag:
The Bronze Strat - June 16th, Dublin
A bronze 'stratocaster' will be erected at Rory Gallagher Corner, Templebar, Dublin, on Friday 16th June at 8 pm followed by a gig (open air) in Meeting House Square, with Taste of Rory until 10.30pm.
Very Special Guest for the unveiling will be The Edge of U2 (pictured)
plus the fantastic live band
A Taste of Rory (9pm)
The screening of the famous Irish Tour '74 (10pm)
Adm: Free with Ticket only.

Ein Fan (Vielen Dank an dieser Stelle an Andreas U. für die Info.) hat sich - nachdem im Juni bisher nicht wirklich was passiert ist - beim Heel-Verlag mal erkundigt, wann das Buch erscheinen wird. Er erhielt die Auskunft, dass es ca. Ende September werden wird.
Wir stehen auch ständig in Kontakt mit dem Heel-Verlag und gehen denen schon mächtig auf die Nerven, aber wir wollten diese Informationen noch einmal genauer erfragen und haben auch noch einmal dort angerufen.
Wir haben auch keine genauere Auskunft erhalten, jedoch bereits wieder eine kleine Abweichung. Das Buch käme im Spätherbst, Anfang Winter heraus.
Also, liebe Fans. Das Motto scheint hier zu lauten: Geduld, Geduld, Geduld ......

Heute erreichte uns die Nachricht, dass unsere schottische Freundin, Fiona Bell, den Kampf gegen den Krebs leider verloren hat. Sie war ein leidenschaftlicher Rory-Fan, hat Rory oft gesehen und auch viele Tributes besucht.
Näher kennen gelernt haben wir Fiona beim Tribute in Leeuwarden 2004 und wir sind seither in ständigem Kontakt geblieben. Ihr Hobby war künstlerisch; und sie hat viele schöne "Sketches" von Rory gezeichnet, von denen sie uns Kopien geschickt hat.
Als wir Sie das letzte Mal getroffen haben, zum Abendessen mit Ger Kennally gemeinsam vor dem Christmas Bash! in Cork im Dezember 2005, hat sie uns für unsere Ausstellung auch eine ihrer Zeichnungen als Original mitgebracht. Darüber haben wir uns sehr gefreut und Fiona war auch guter Dinge. Simon hat sie auch öfter Süssigkeiten aus ihrer schottischen Heimat mitgebracht und zu Weihnachten hat er noch eine Figur von "Nessie" von ihr geschickt bekommen. Wir haben ihr einen Schutzengel geschenkt, den hat sie an ihr Bett gehängt ..... wovon sie uns auch ein Foto geschickt hat .....
Sie war eine so herzliche und freundliche Lady .... wir mochten sie sehr und werden sie vermissen!

Steve verlässt SINNERBOY!

"It is with great sadness that I must announce Steve Richardson's departure from Sinnerboy.
As a founder member of the band Steve (and his lovely wife Julie) will be sorely missed and I'm sure you will join us in wishing him every happiness for the future.
Steve will be playing on all gigs until the end of our Irish tour finishing in Dundalk on June 18th (Where there maybe a guinness or two consumed!) so come along to your nearest venue and give him a rousing send off.
I will announce Steve's replacement in due course.

Wir bedauern sehr, dass Steve aufhört. Gründe hierfür sind uns bisher nicht bekannt. Wer SINNERBOY noch einmal in der Originalbesetzung sehen möchte, muß sich also ranhalten.
Wir wünschen Steve für die Zukunft alles Gute und wir werden ihn an den Drums von Sinnerboy sehr vermissen.

Petition für eine Rory Gallagher Statue in Cork/Irland
Trevor Thompson and James Brown:
"Dublin have honoured Phil Lynott with a statue. Now, many people think it's time Rory Gallagher's home town paid the same tribute to their own legendary musician. Rory fan James Brown says why he thinks it should happen.
I think the time is right to put up a statue to my hero in Cork city. He might have come from humble beginnings but he taught the world how to rock and fans from all corners of the globe regularly pay tribute to his music and his life with festivals and even streets being named after him.
Yes, we have Rory Gallagher Place in Cork, but I think we can go further and my dream is to have a bust or a statue of him standing proudly somewhere in Cork. The ideal location would be at the side gates of City Hall, but just as good would be either outside the Central Library or even in Rory Gallagher Place itself ....."

Rory Gallagher Statue am Rory Gallagher Corner in Dublin geplant. Die Vorlage für die Statue soll das Cover der CD "Big Guns - The Very Best Of Rory Gallagher" dienen. Donal freut sich sehr über diese Pläne, und das der Stadtrat nach zwei Jahren verhandelns, diesen Plan nun endlich befürwortet!

A MEMORIAL to legendary rock and blues musician Rory Gallagher has been given the green light by Dublin City Council.
A life-size bronze replica of Gallagher's famous paint-stripped Fender stratocaster guitar is to be erected on a wall in Temple Bar in honour of the famous Donegal-born musician. The city council has decided to grant planning permission following a two-year planning wrangle. The street where the archive is located has been officially renamed Rory Gallagher Corner and the building bears the street name. The building is owned by Temple Bar Properties but is leased by the OPW to the National Photographic Archive, which is part of the National Library. Concerns by the National Library that the site may become a shrine to Gallagher with fans drawing graffiti on the gable wall were dismissed by the project promoter Mark Walsh.
Mr Walsh lodged the planning application at the end of October on behalf of Dublin's music equipment stores and has just been informed that permission has been granted.
"Rory was our first international rock star who paved the way for Thin Lizzy and U2. He is still highly respected internationally and the Fender strat guitar was his trademark," he said yesterday. Donal Gallagher, Rory's only brother and his former manager, said he was very happy at the city council decision and that he would support the project in any way he could.
In its decision the council said the bronze guitar would be fixed to the wall below the existing Rory Gallagher Corner place name.
The planning application contained detailed sketches of the monument.
The giant Fender corporation has agreed to bankroll the cost of the bronze monument along with the city's music equipment stores. Rory Gallager is regarded by many as the greatest ever electric blues guitarist and his music has attracted a legion of new young fans. An anthology of Gallagher's music released last year went plantinum in many countries. The cover of the CD features the guitar which will be replicated at the Temple Bar monument. Gallagher died in 1995 after contracting a virus following a liver transplant. He is buried in Cork wHere he grew up.
A bronze statue of Dublin rock star Phil Lynott off Grafton St has become a magnet for his many fans.
